Diagram Productivity Reporting System — DAPHNE
Daphne enables diagrammers and managers to assess the productivity of train crews and the skill of the diagrammers in creating diagrams that make the best use of resources.
The system has the following major components:
Productivity Data
Productivity is calculated from current diagrams and saved so that comparisons can be made over a period of time, for as long as several years if necessary.
When creating productivity data the Diagrams to be included are selected from the Voyager Plan database. The Productivity calculations are then carried out and the Diagram Details and Times are saved in the Daphne database. The detailed times for individual diagrams may be viewed at any time.
Details of the calculations that show how up the times were made up are not held on the database. When these are required for a particular Diagram the calculations are repeated for the current data. These details are therefore only available while the Diagram is present in Voyager Plan.
Report Productivity
A very flexible reporting system is included so that productivity data can be summarized in a multitude of ways.
Reports are based on Report Templates which are created in a simple step by step process.. When a report is required the Data Placeholders are matched with the saved Productivity Data to produce the report. Reports may be printed or exported to Excel.
Report Trains Without Diagrams
All the trains which are not specified in any diagram may be listed for any date range.
Allowances
The allowances for Activities, Walking, PNB, Book On/Off, etc. attempt to encapsulate the rules laid down in the Diagrammer's Compendium. A complete definition of the rules is not possible because the data on which they are based is not available in Voyager Plan. For example Activity Allowances may depend on the length of the train, and Walking Time Allowances can vary if the train is on the up or down platform. In these cases the Allowances have to reflect the most frequently occurring situation so that the majority of Diagrams are correctly calculated.
Every Allowance is assigned to a Detailed Category which is used for summarizing the data for reports. The Daphne Database actually holds the times for every allowance so that when the assignment to Categories changes the reports remain on a consistent basis. It is not possible to produce reports for individual Allowances, but the details may be viewed on the Detailed Times screen which can be accessed from the Productivity Diagram Details screen.
Codes
The Productivity Data is held on the Daphne Database in its most detailed categories. In the majority of cases this is too detailed for sensible reports, so there are two levels of summary.
